for audiences

rafael center

We highlight world cinema, also sometimes described as ‘foreign film’. We aim to make that term obsolete for you in the hope that as we bring more films of other worlds to you that the world becomes a more more familiar place.

audience02

We support film audiences by

  • bringing and telling them about films that inform and entertain them about a world culture of certain aspects in the lives of people of that culture.
  • adding to that film: facts, stories and other information from which they learn more about that culture and the people of that culture.
  • attaching to a film: charitable projects relating to the subject of that film benefiting one or more culturally diverse communities
  • enabling audiences to contribute to those charitable projects immediately at a screening or through our website
  • connecting audiences to people and organizations from different cultures, at screenings, film events or through our Culture Wrap Screening Parties (community screenings at home or a community center)

We watch films around the world to spot the greatest world cinema films for you. Read our film reviews for a first introduction to a new world culture and maybe one sparks your interest to see that film yourself.

community screenings

Most of the films that we support can be available for a screening at your local community center.

Regularly, we organize events around a specific film, where after the screening we introduce you to that specific world culture though the food, music, and art and connect you the local cultural communities and the projects that benefit them and the cultural communities around the world.

Keep checking our site when an event is organized in your neighborhood or sign up for the mailing list so we can keep you posted.

host a culture wrap home screening party

Japanese_group_Amazake_shop05

Or host a Culture Wrap Party at your house and invite your friends and family to watch a film from our World Cinema collection. Introduce them to members of the local community from the culture you just watched in the film. Watch together, cook and eat together and become friends.

After the screening, your friends can buy the DVD and other merchandise of the film they just watched. From the information package we supply you with, they can also contribute right to the charitable and educational project that are connected to the particular film you chose.   More info.
