Based on real life experiences, teacher Erin Gruwell enters into Woodrow Wilson High School ill-prepared for the challenges of her at-risk students. Met with conflict at every stage she finally makes a connection with them through a discussion of The Diary of Anne Frank and encourages them to write their own daily journals. This inspirational story shows the ability of a dedicated teacher to truly change lives.

CONTRIBUTE: Educational projects around the world
|
|

There are many worthwhile projects around the world that support education for all. We can connect you to those schools and organizations around the world or you can support those projects in a variety of ways.
Some of the projects need financial support or school supplies. Other seek collaboration with teachers or offer student collaboration opportunities. They are all projects the students, parents and teachers can get involved in.
In many countries, education is difficult to get for children and adults alike and in most circumstances education forms a safe refuge from other hardships in their community . It is for this reason that we have included adult learning projects as well.

Sri Aurobindo School was started as a mission to impart technical knowledge along with functional literacy to uneducated youth of impoverished communities. It is our mission to enhance their occupational skills, promote self-reliance, and empower them economically so that they may take control of their lives. Through this endeavor we are focused on progressively eliminating the practice of child labor in this community.
